Approximately 10x8" Double-matted in an 11x14 total area, the original image of this reprint of Laton Alton Huffman's "Spotted Eagle's Village Outside the Old Freight Road" was taken in 1880. This was one of Huffman's earlier works of Montana's frontier. Huffman photographed the ranches, roundups, cowboys, and Native Americans against the Montana landscape before that way of life was gone forever. Coffrin's Old West Gallery owned the rights to Huffman's works and reprinted these amazing images from his negatives before the gallery closed for good. This was numbered #21 from the Huffman Archive and depicts a small native village of teepees with blanketed villagers and hauntingly desolate trees. Matting (beige and brown) matches the sepia tones of the image.
