🧭 VINTAGE 1971 DU QUOIN LODGE NO. 234 MASONIC DECANTER 🧭

Offered here is an exceptionally distinctive lodge-specific Masonic ceramic liquor decanter dating to 1971.

This sculptural decanter was made exclusively for Du Quoin Lodge No. 234 A.F. & A.M. in Du Quoin, Illinois. Surviving historical information indicates that these decanters were sold through the lodge as a fundraiser toward construction of a new Masonic Temple.

• Large three-dimensional Masonic square-and-compasses design

• Raised letter “G” against a deep cobalt-blue background

• Open Bible or Volume of Sacred Law forming the base

• Rich gold-colored glazed decoration

• Removable cylindrical stopper

• Impressed underside markings: “C.D. 1971” and “E.G. D’Q-234”

• Approximately 55 years old

• Empty of its original contents

📜 MASONIC SIGNIFICANCE:

The square and compasses are among the most recognizable symbols of Freemasonry. The central letter “G” is commonly associated with Geometry and God or the Great Architect of the Universe. The open book represents the Volume of Sacred Law, an important part of Masonic lodge tradition.

Unlike the many commercially distributed Jim Beam and Ezra Brooks fraternal bottles, this is a locally commissioned piece connected specifically to Du Quoin Lodge No. 234 in Southern Illinois. No commercial distiller or ceramic manufacturer has been positively identified, so none is being attributed.
