One Of A Kind Early Postage stamp hand sewn and Treadle quilt. Gorgeous For Sale

Up for sale from my lot of antique and vintage quilts.
Another quilt that speaks for itself just by the look of it. The quilter took their time making this and every seam although hand made was of exceptional quality and tedious attention to detail sewing the postage stamp patches.
Of all of my quilts, this is a true work of art and really is a one of a kind piece. Cloth is from period and all resources were used at the time to make it mostly of old flour sacks used at general stores back then. This particular quilt says it was made in Shipshewana Indiana but not sure of the quilter.
The patterns can be cross referenced against those available at that time and match up. The color purple was invented in 1856 and was widely used for dresses and other clothing into the 1900 era. The 1890\'s were famously named the Mauve Decade due to the origination of synthetic dyes at the time.William Henry Perkin accidentally invented the first artificial purple dye, called mauveine (or mauve), in 1856.
Postage stamp quilts get their name from the tiny squares of fabric which measure about the same size as a postage stamp. Back in earlier days, they used to compete to see how many postage stamp fabric pieces they could get on in one quilt, It was facinating to know the history. Youcan tell this quilt was not exposed to much sunlight either, as the colors are pretty bright for being over 75 years old.
The quilt was purchased at auction for $420.00 and stored in vaccuum sealed bags and kept in low light and cool environment. Non smoking home.You can see in the pictures the hand sewing and attention to detail of each piece of fabric.I have seen other postage stamp quilts out there but nothing as clean and guaranteed \"gorgeous and clean\" or well taken care of as this one and pretty large.
