Vintage old Mexican Folk Art hand carved wooden Moro, Moor, Spaniard Traditional Ethnographic Festival Dance Mask. Exaggerated elongated face reminiscent of a Modigliani painting subject. Large handlebar mustache. Peach Pink ground with Red, Blue, White, Gray likely oil painted detail. Two squarish eye holes at the center of painted blue eyes. Impassive closed mouth. Two holes at the left and right sides. Unpainted raw wood backing, with an insect-eaten surface. Unmarked, unsigned, no labels or tags. Uncertain of artisan. Likely made in the 1930s or 40s. In VG vintage condition with general signs of age and wear, significant losses, signs of former insect infestation, not currently present. Mask appears to have been overpainted at some point. Measures approximately 12 inches long, 7 inches wide, and 5 inches deep. Weighs approximately 1 lb. Will weigh between 3 and 4 lbs packaged.More pics upon request.
