Vintage Decorative Glass Big Top Smooth Peanut Butter (1950\'s) For Sale

Vintage Big Top Smooth Peanut Butter promotional glass jar/tumbler from the 1950s, manufactured by the Hazel-Atlas Glass Company. Although a portion of the paper label is missing, \"Decorative Glass Big Top Smooth Peanut Butter\" is still legible. The clear molded glass is accented with turquoise (a popular color in the 50s), white, & gold geometric diamond-like shapes. The red lid with graphics is still sharp. The lid has dents around the outer edge, more visible on the inside of the lid, which most likely came from prying the lid on and off to obtain the jelly. The lid reads \"Made by Proctor & Gamble, Cincinnati, Ohio\" allowingthe productiondate to be narrowed to a three-year period, 1955-1958.In 1955, consumer goodsgiant Proctor & Gamble (P&G) bought Big Top Peanut Butter from W. T.Young Foods. After spending a few years reformulating the recipe, P&Gofficially retired the Big Top name in 1958 and rebranded the product as Jif.
