Pair Fine Porcelain Busts Nymphenburg Laughing Boy/Girl German.

Pair of very finely produced blanc de chine porcelain busts. After the 18th century originals by Franz Anton Bustelli for Nymphenburg of Germany. These may or may not be made by Nymphenburg a bit after the original run. They appear to be produced in 19th century. They have makers marks I haven’t been able to ID. They are of very high quality. I purchased them from a high end Boston area sale house. Condition is very good if not a bit dusty. There is one tiny chip on the girls bow. Other than that the only issue is some areas that appear to be intentionally sanded down. Either spots were sanded down after glaze or there are areas that weren’t glazed for some reason. I really don’t know the explanation for this. These areas are solely on the backs of the busts. The fronts and sides of the busts have no issues at all. There are close up photos of the sanded areas and the one tiny chip. These are fairly large at just shy of 14” high and 7” wide. They look absolutely fantastic on display. I’d say they are on par with Meissen quality. Shipping is ASAP! Free Boston pickup or delivered within 30 mins of Boston for a few. Thanks

From Wiki:

Franz Anton Bustelli (12 April 1723 – 18 April 1763) was a Swiss-born German modeller for the Bavarian Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory from 1754 to his death in 1763. He is widely regarded as the finest modeller of porcelain in the Rococo style: "if the art of European porcelain finds its most perfect expression in the rococo style, so the style finds its most perfect expression in the work of Bustelli".[2]
