Original Vintage 1970s Tops Coffee Shop Clown Room Restaurant Menu Ala Moana Boulevard Waikiki Beach Hawaii
Tops was one of the Spencecliff Corporation\'s chain of Honolulu coffee shops; the tiki-themed \'Tops\' brand debuted in 1959, and the 298 Beach Walk site was its Waikiki branch. Spencecliff was founded by brothers Spencer and Clifton Weaver, who started with \'Swanky Franky\' hot-dog carts in 1939 and at their peak ran roughly 50 restaurants, cabarets and coffee shops on Oahu. The landmark flagship Tops at Ala Moana Boulevard and John Ena Road had a distinctive inverted-pyramid sign seen in the opening of Elvis Presley\'s Blue Hawaii in 1961 and the TV series Hawaii Five-O. The Weavers sold Spencecliff to Japan\'s Nittaku Enterprises in 1986, after which the chain, including Tops, wound down.
