Original 1920s Glass Plate Negative — Revere Beach, Massachusetts Bathing Beauty (Identified Subject)
Up for sale is an original antique glass plate negative capturing a young woman identified as Helen Rubin posing seaside on the wet sands of historic Revere Beach, Massachusetts, circa 1923–1926.
The composition captures the quintessential Roaring Twenties beach aesthetic: Helen lounges on the low-tide flats wearing a period knit swimsuit with buttoned side detail and a fashionable tied bathing turban/cloche wrap, while fellow beachgoers stroll the surf line in the soft-focus background.
Importantly, the negative is accompanied by its original photographer's proof enclosure envelope, neatly inscribed in period fountain pen ink:"Helen Rubin / # 42 Dehon St. / Revere."The printed studio sleeve is titled "Bathing Girl", providing rare provenance and local North Shore historical documentation.
