This magnificent liquor decanter is a stellar example of early 20th-century American or European Art Nouveau silver overlay craftsmanship. Unlike standard etched glass, this flask features an elaborate, genuine sterling silver deposit design electroplated directly onto the glass body.The dense, symmetrical scrolling is heavily influenced by the Baroque and Rococo Revivals popular at the turn of the century. At the visual center sits a prominent classical floral urn, flowing outwards into an intricate network of acanthus leaves, trailing wild rose vines, and sweeping, open-worked silver shields. The silver work beautifully frames the contours of the flattened oval spirit flask, culminating in a solid, high-polished silver-tone neck collar. Excellent antique condition.
