Original WWII German \"Forstschutz\" Forestry Service Jacket with a 1938-pattern Third Reich Forestry Service shoulder board and War Merit Cross Ribbon.
The Rank (Revierförster): The shoulder board features a dual-cord configuration braided into five distinct loops. Pinning the center is a single silver-colored metal acorn rank pip. This specific combination indicates the rank of a Revierförster (District Forester / Area Ranger).
The Branch (Private Forestry): Underneath the braided green cording sits a distinct brown felt wool base (underlay). In the 1938 dress regulations, different branches of the Reich Forestry Service were assigned specific piping colors:
Brown: Privatforstdienst (Private Forestry Service)
Green: Staatsforstdienst (State Forest Service)
Gray: Gemeindeforstdienst (Municipal/General Forest Service)
Black: Heeres/Luftwaffe Forstdienst (Military/Air Force Forest Service)
The ribbon tucked through the buttonhole represents the War Merit Cross 2nd Class (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse). This decoration was widely awarded to civil personnel, including forestry workers, for meritorious service and contribution to the war effort away from direct frontline combat.Jacket is in excellent condition overall with very little wear to be seen. Very little moth spots found. The ribbon on the inside has some damage, but enough is left for proper display.
