Description: This linen-era postcard features the Baltimore Shot Tower, one of the few surviving shot towers in the United States, located at the corner of Fayette and Front Streets. Built in 1828 for the manufacture of shot, the 234-foot brick tower had its cornerstone laid by Charles Carroll of Carrollton. Surrounding row houses and street-level vehicles provide context for the tower\'s impressive height against a pastel sky.
